Mission Laptop/Writing Desk and Hutch - Black

The fact that these desks are made of hardwood, made them an easy choice for me. (I do not care for pressed board or mdf.) I purchased three of these to utilize in our home classroom. The desk are roomy enough to spread both textbooks and notebooks. The top of the hutch allows ample room for a laptop, lamp, as well as a few books. The shelves and drawers offer a plenty of space for storing supplies. If more work surface is needed, the hutch can simply be taken off.

I was looking for a black writer's desk...this fit what I was looking for & fit in my budget. It was very easy to assemble. It arrived right on schedule. I'm very pleased with this purchase!

The desk was easy to put together. Good desk for the price.

This desk seems very sturdy, it was a fun project with my son. I am using it in a side sitting room for the kids to work on a computer. There is no storage for a computer or keyboard. Keyboard will sit on top of desk, and the finish on the desk is basically light lacquer if anything, and that is the only thing I would suggest they add some manufacturing effort to. I intend to lay a stained and finished board below the desk on the brace to support a computer tower and hide wires. [...]

I looked at lot of other desks online and was immediately struck by how nice this desk looked for the price. I was a little skeptical. But, the gamble paid off -- this is a really great desk. The construction is solid, and it looks great. It actually offers up a lot of space -- I put my iMac on top of the hutch and it's a perfect fit, clearing up the entire desktop. There's a lot of extra storage space between the three cubby holes and two drawers on the hutch (FYI, those drawers aren't on rollers -- they just slide in an out, but they're small enough that it works just fine), and the two larger drawers in front (those are on rollers).

The desk wasn't difficult to assemble, though it took a good couple of hours. Make sure that when you're attaching the legs to the desktop that the foot support bar is positioned in the BACK of the desk, otherwise you'll have to disassemble (my fault, clearly, but easy to miss). The only assembly issue is that there were no pre-drilled holes in the back of the desk or hutch to attach them together with the supplied hardware. It took me awhile to screw them together (literally 30 minutes or so), but if you have a drill or power screwdriver, it would probably take all of 5/10 minutes, though you still have to line it up yourself with a ruler, to make sure it's even.

The only other issue to be aware of is that the desk is fairly tall. Definitely taller than other desks I've used (I'm referring to the desktop, not the hutch top). My current office chair is a little too short, even at its fullest extended height (and I'm 5'11", so I'm not short). I'm going to try a cushion or get a new chair. Just something to be aware of, especially if you're on the shorter side.

All in all, the 5 stars are for the value. For the price I got it for, it's WAY more solid than most of the desks I see at big box stores, and it definitely looks much pricer when it's fully assembled.
